Salvatore F. Carcaterra, Founder/Owner/Chief Executive Officer
Salvatore F. Carcaterra (Sal) began his law enforcement career in 1981 with the NYPD, where he served for 21 years. Starting as a Patrol Officer, he was promoted through the ranks to the position of Deputy Chief. As a Deputy Chief he served as the Executive Officer to the Chief of Department, where, among many duties, he organized and implemented the NYPD’s overall response to the threat of terrorism following the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.
Prior to that, Sal was a Deputy Inspector in command of the Fugitive Enforcement Division. As a Deputy Inspector he also served in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Operations, managing COMPSTAT, and commanding the Hate Crimes Task Force increasing its arrest rate by over 50 percent.
Sal served in the NYPD Detective Bureau as a Captain in the 70th Precinct and as Deputy Inspector in the 66th Precinct.
After retiring from the NYPD, Sal became the President of a New York City security firm.
In 2013, Sal founded SFC Security & Intelligence LLC that provides personal and physical protection to individuals and corporations.
Donald N. Barclay, Chief Operating Officer
Donald N. Barclay (Don) has over 40 years of law enforcement and private security operations experience starting his career as a Detective Investigator in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, Economic Crimes and Arson Bureau.
In December 1980, Don began a very successful career in the NYPD, which was at the time the New York Transit Police Department. It was there where he became involved in sensitive integrity related investigations, employing what was then cutting-edge surveillance and intelligence gathering operations, often employing undercover operatives and confidential informants for that specific purpose. Don was promoted to Lieutenant in December 1995.
In 1997, Don was appointed Executive Officer NYPD's TARU (Technical Assistance Response Unit), where he and his team of seventy-five Detectives, Sergeants and Lieutenants, employed modern electronic surveillance and emergency response protocols for the entire police department.
In 1998, he received the designation of Lieutenant, Commander of Detective Squad.
Since his retirement from the NYPD in December 2000, Don has been responsible for the security operations of several large New York based security firms.
In 2007, as the Director of Security Operations for a global broadcasting company, Don's responsibilities included all security planning and operations for that organization’s news and sports divisions. He also created and directed the company's Travel Security program and established their Global Watch Center.
Don is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, Ga., and has been certified as a Police Trainer in New York State.
Since 2014, in his role as C.O.O., Don oversees all aspects of the "day-to-day" business operations of SFC.
